Ingredients

  • 500g boneless chicken (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • ½–1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro (chopped)

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash and cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  2. 2 In a bowl, add yogurt.
  3. 3 Add lemon juice to the yogurt.
  4. 4 Mix in turmeric powder.
  5. 5 Add cumin powder.
  6. 6 Add ginger-garlic paste.
  7. 7 Add salt and mix well.
  8. 8 Add chicken and coat thoroughly with marinade.
  9. 9 Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  10. 10 Heat 1 tbsp butter in a pan on medium-high heat.
  11. 11 Add marinated chicken without overcrowding.
  12. 12 Cook until lightly charred and mostly cooked (6–8 minutes).
  13. 13 Remove chicken and set aside.
  14. 14 In the same pan, add remaining butter.
  15. 15 Add crushed tomatoes and cook until thickened.
  16. 16 Stir in garam masala and chili powder.
  17. 17 Return chicken to the pan and mix well.
  18. 18 Simmer on low-medium heat for 15 minutes.
  19. 19 Add heavy cream and simmer for 5 more minutes.
  20. 20 Season with salt, garnish with cilantro, and serve hot.
